I was born and raised in a small town in the central valley of California. Both kindergarten teachers, my parents were never really excited that their oldest son wanted to work in the corporate world. But mom checks in every week to make sure that I am alive, well, and still mindful of my social responsibilities.
I pursued a BA in Communication at Brigham Young University Idaho. While chipping ice inch by inch from my wind shield I tried to convince myself that the scholarship made it worth worth leaving Cali’s Mediterranean climate.
BYUI College of Business and Communication sought to create a curriculum that was hands on and relevant as possible. Because of this I was able to work on the development of the student-run consulting agency, Alloy Consultants. The agency became part of the colleges required practicum curriculum and gave students such as myself the opportunity to work with businesses in our community.
While working as Alloy’s general manager, I was able to work on research and marketing/PR projects for The Rex Family Entertainment Center, the BYUI Student Representative Council, and the national internet organization College to Corporate.
In 2007 I began working with Madison Memorial Hospital Foundation on developing and implementing a community campaign to raise $3 million by 2011. It was this project that fueled my passion for nonprofit campaigns and public administration.
In August I began an internship with Hill&Knowlton, as a member of the New York digital team. Mom prays for my return to the West, but I must admit I think the East Coast will become my new home.
